Re: 1st Lap Steel Build
Nice to see a new lap steel project posted on the forum, been awhile. Sure is taking shape. You seem to have thought it out very well. I look forward to seeing your progress. I think you are going to have a fine build. Keep up the good work and keep on posting.

I'm trying to put some more pics up, but every time I try to attach a photo I it seems to completely reset the page, losing any text I'd written. Quite frustrating!

The head is a piece of 18mm birch ply left over from something. It's too thick for the tuners so I used the template for shaping the neck to route a relief on the underside.

You don't have to spend a fortune on timber to get some nice grain effects!

Re: 1st Lap Steel Build
Thanks for the positive words. There was a degree of planning (all of which was literally done on the back of an envelope! ) and a whole lot of making it up as I go along. Does anyone have any thoughts on nut and bridge material? I know the preference is for brass, and aluminium works as long as you don't mind dealing with a bit of string fretting on the softer material, but what about wood? Only asking as I came across a piece of rose wood that would be just the right size for a nut!
Re: 1st Lap Steel Build
Plan B for the bridge is a Gibson Tune-O-Matic with matching tail piece. Anyone used these on a lap steel with any success?
