PSG Innovation At Its' Finest - 40 Years Ago!

Post by richard37066 »

Everyone knows that I am enamored with the simplicity of Gene Fields "knife-edge" changer as found on his Fender PS210. The accompanying link is to a post on the Steel Guitar Forum and shows what is purportedly Gene's personal creation for himself. The terms "forward thinking" and "out of the box" are inadequate to describe the D8/10 pictured. It's certainly not everyone's "dish of tea", so to speak, but exemplifies the fact that Gene never let any grass grow under his feet. I continue to be amazed at his creativity.

Yes, it is a nice solution...

...and the knife-edge changer will work fine on my keyed PSG.

As for the rest of that particular construction: not in line with my preferences but fun to look at.
