Would a center pivot point on the moveable table help to hold the mandrel in the drill when using it as a lathe for light-duty work?


Alternative. Mount a hand drill in a holder. The chuck screws off so no force fitted problems will occur. What's more, it can be mounted for a more conventional horizontal spin. Use a plastic tie on the hand switch, and use an external light-switch in an electrical box with pig-tailed AC connectors to activate it.

Hi guys,

I'll chuck my 2 pennyworth in here, I was talking to John Fabian about 7 or 8 years ago and he gave me the low down on the rollers that he used on the Carter starter. You know the brass eye rings at the twisted end of a guitar string, well that's what he used for the rollers, because they are perfectly grooved and have a hole through the center for the axle. How's that for inovation! I hope that this info helps.
