Hello, and happy Easter
yesterday and today I shaped the peg head with a file (:-() and glued the ebony veneer:

I tried to file the edge square (really difficult with a hand file)to the peg head, as regular guitars (On the original, it's perpendicular to the fretboard, like banjos and mandolins) because the binding job will be easier.
Here is the result:

Andy DePaule (http://www.luthiersupply.com) will cut the bone inlays for me and send me a custom bone nut (and bone fret markers), I'll get them in about one month...

Dave, the material is ivoroid plastic and the glue the stewmac black CA for plastic on wood, and for plastic on plastic, i carefully removed the BLACK glue where the 2 white plastic pieces meet, and use Tamya glue(model hobby glue) because... I didn't have any other plastic glue.

Today I routed the fretboard to thickness:

Then taped tre drawing of the fingerboard (I double checked the printing scale) on it and sawed it withe the Stewmac fret saw... Hard, the saw doesn't cut, 3 hours... and shallow slots...

And then I remembered a tool I have for engraving plastic hobby airplanes:

the HASEGAWA LINE ENGRAVER!!!!

Fantastic tool!. In less than 5 mn I removed easyly more wood than in 3 hours of hard sawing... safe and clean!!!

Highly recommended

My ebony fretboard is not as black as I'd like... what would you use as dye ?

Xavier, you are doing some fine work there!
As for dye...do you have inkjet refill kits there? Get one of them. It has a black ink in a small bottle. You can dilute it with alcohol and get the shade you want.

Great, Bent!

I may find some here in NC
I found too some info on the stewmac site that alcohol-soluble dyes for leather work well. I'll see what I easily find

Thank you again,

Xavier
