Here goes, First Lap steel build
Re: Here goes, First Lap steel build
Thanks Ron! I have to router the slots for the machine heads/tuners now soon,. I'm scared to death for that part.
Re: Here goes, First Lap steel build
Had a good night tonight, I was dreading routering those slots but it turned out ok in the end. I think most of my time was spent staring at it trying to figure out how I was even going to do it! So with the help of some jigs I managed to get them done.
Starting to look like a guitar!
I got the headstock, and most of the fret board binding on as well. Tomorrow I'll attempt the body binding.

Thanks again Ron! I'm pretty excited with this one. I was looking through the pictures of your pedal steel build, amazing. I have a milling machine but I'm pretty far off from trying to figure out anything like that. It looks pretty technical.
On a side note,.. I'm sure alot of you guys are thinking "what a messy shop!" haha it's temporary, so nothing really has a place to be put yet, so it gets a bit jumbled.

My workshop is the same, as I suspect everyone's is, I thought about getting a cat for mine's but there wouldn't be room to swing one.

Re: Here goes, First Lap steel build
I got the fret board glued on, and a lot of the shaping and sanding finished up
2 of my helpers, there's one more I think he was off chewing up the scraps.

Shaping up really nicely. The last picture looks a bit ruff though

I think your work is beyond compare, your work ideas are ingenious and your end result is pure eye candy.
Maybe your 2 helpers will get some "licks" in on the finished product?
Kudos to you an a top quality product!
