New yorker replica: finished!
Re: First LS project: 8strings New yorker replica
What would you use to fill the wood before painting? (it's maple)
Epoxy?
Cyano Acrylate?
...other?
Thank you for your help,
Xavier

Xavier, if it's open grained wood, and you are staining, I would use wood filler.
If it's close-grained wood (like hard maple) I would not use anything. Just stain(if wanted) and then a coat of sealer, then the top coats.

Bent, it's hard maple, so... sealer?
Then I think I'll use automotive paints (mostly black, and a little of white-ivoroid) and varnish...?

Hello,
Let's continue...
For the strength of the angles, I decided to bind the top of the body:
I'll sand the angles of the bottom round soon

Today I rounded the bottom edges:

Xavier, Some stunning and very detailed, painstaking work you are doing there my friend.
Yes, for hard maple I would use sealer. Maybe 2 or 3 coats to lessen the chance of bleed-thru of the paint.
I would sand lightly after the last coat of primer.

Re: First LS project: 8strings New yorker replica
I got today my "bone" corian... It's pleasant to work with:
I sealed the maple with a thin layer of epoxy and silica powder, it's setting now
Now that I got my corian, I can think about the bridge...
I have several options:
Rout a cavity that fits the corian piece to hold it vertically (I might have to find a 6 mm router bit )
Let it stay on the body with pieces of wood to hold it
Or use my 6 mm round brass rod with a piece of maple...
What would you do?
Thanks,
Xavier

Looks beautiful. Can you flip it over and give us a look at the top. I really want to see the detail work.
