Celebrating My 25th Birthday - for the third time.

Post by richard37066 »

Today is my 75th birthday.

I don't know whether to throw a party in my own honor or simply celebrate the fact that, somehow - and miraculously - I've managed to make it this far.

From another thread, I gather that Mac is right behind me. Yer catchin' up, bud.

Would ya mind if this old goat layed some down-home wisdom on you young'ns?

Live for today - and what you might accomplish today. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Make a list of priorities. Tend to them in the listed order. If the list somehow gets cattywampus then don't sweat it. Remake the list - But always have a list. Meandering through life carries with it few memorable rewards.

I hope that the following doesn't sound pompous but, in addition to music and building things, I'm quite fond of the written word and, in particular, poetry and prose. Some many decades ago I adopted a credo for life and living. Here 'tis.

"We never have too much time for gladdening the hearts of those travelling the dark journey with us. Oh, be swift to love - make haste to be kind." - anon -

'Twas just another day - yet one more that I shared with my beloved, Shirley. Bless 'er. She allows me the time to do my "thing". She's #1 on the list - thus I take several breaks throughout the day in order to give her a hug and say "I love you".

Y'all should take those breaks, too, and tend to your loved one(s). That task is much more important than screwin' together some ratty ole cheese slicer.

Thanks for being kind to me. I 'preciate it.

Happy Birthday Richard... Yup....I'm catching up. The best thing about it is that the relationship in age (fractionwise) between our kids and I is getting smaller every year.

Richard, many happy returns! You might have a 75 yr old body but that head of yours is like a 35 yo. Keep exercising your brain and you will stay forever young.

Take care and be happy!

Darn! I missed the actual day but all the very best anyhow... I recently had the 42nd anniversary of my 22nd birthday. (it was a good year and that's why it is the one featured - it's the year I finally took the plunge into professional music for a while - then I went and got married and had to go back to a real job) I like your way of counting the years too.

Best regards, Allan.....
