Tube Bending

Post by Skip Ellis »

I'm trying to figure out how to bend 3/4" EMT for steel guitar seat legs. I need a tighter radius than the normal electrical tubing benders. Is there a tool/machine that will do this without deforming the material? I could switch to Sch 40 aluminum if that would be any better. Cutting and welding miters is an option but I don't weld and people who do seem to want a lot of money - I'm just a poor ol' steel player on a budget!

Rule of thumb: The minimum radius is 4 times the diameter of the tube.

If you want it any tighter, pack the tube tightly with sand and plug the ends.

Or cut 45deg, and weld.
