Re: An Off-The-Wall Idea For Y'all To Chew On
Eloquent words chaps! Not being hooked on "performing" since I was about 20 Yrs (now 78), my interest is not to chase the perfect, or even better instrument, but to run experiments that relate to the street wisdom (myths?) re what does what. Then to give the methodology of the experiment, and result...

Re: An Off-The-Wall Idea For Y'all To Chew On
To resonate or not to resonate…that is the question! Do we want a resonant member(s) attached to the vibrating string or not in order to get the “tone” and “sustain” desired? The choice of material, shape, and method of attachment will determine the results. Let’s start at the beginning. Takes a bod...

Re: PSG Neck Dynamic Displays
Ahoy there "youngster"...I am 78, and doing the same thing. I don't see any other thread dealing with "user solutions" and "tuning analysis" on this Forum...maybe this one can be an info center for such. I am going to email you my Excel pgm for tuning analysis. The user enters strings, peds, levs, k...

Re: PSG Neck Dynamic Displays
DAVE-M and others: I have Excell programs that solve for chord locations for several tuning/setups. These are quite extensive, and cover inversions etc.. Anyone interested can email me and I will email one or more of them to you...free. You might find something in there that you could use. http://s7...

Re: Pickup info
Richard…et al; Some info on the semiconductor pickup: No magnets needed…but can be used if a reason shows up. The output of the common wound pickup is kN dphi/dt where k is a constant to cover the network effects etc, N is the number of turns, dphi is the change in flux, and dt is the change in time...

Re: Pickup info
Further considerations re wire size and type for common wound pickups: In a quick summation of the electrical properties of wound pickups, we have R as a function of the length and diameter of the wire. The length (and hence the R) will be a function of the number of strings and the spacing of the s...

Re: Pickup info
The Honneywell info indicates that the device can resolve magnet position to within a degree, and its unamplified output is about 120mV for plus to minus 45 deg. Apple computer uses magnets to hold their connectors in place. They needed a way to measure the angle of magnetization in their magnets wi...

Re: Pickup info
Georg; Look up the HONEYWELL HMC1501 series for operational info. TYhere are several ways to use it. The DC that I use for position sensing might work for as far as a half inch or more, depending upon what gain is chosen and what activation source. When you get ready, I might send you a channel to m...
