Re: ideal steel amplifier

Since this topic has managed to resurface, Andrew, I just have to ask: Has anything more come of this amp project? And since I'm jabbering away, I might as well throw in my two centavos worth on amp design. How about dripping oodles of spring tank reverb, four or five active tone controls, effects l...

Re: forum registration-help!

. . . but at some point I will need someone to step up and help so the registrations can be taken care of in a more timely manner. . . . Why not now? I'll bet if you posted some specific requirements right now in terms of computer skills and time needed to do the job and so on, you'll get more than...

I believe that Janet Davis, Paul Beard and Stew-Mac all offer kits for building Reso guitars, so any one of those might be a good source for blueprints or a book of plans. HTH.

Re: Should Extra Necks Be Higher?

Given the way that people fling their opinions about around here, I'd of thought that you'd of had a least a dozen of them by now. I don't own any double- or multi-necked steels so this is really out there speculative opinion. It seems to me that this is mainly a player issue: What is s/he most comf...

Re: 21 strings

I don't know why you would want so many strings, but as far as the gauges go, that's pretty standard information. There are lots of charts on the web, here's a link to one: http://www.hawaiiansteel.com/learning/gauges.php Here's a link to plans for a little bit different steel guitar project. It has...

Re: Elektro Pedal Steel Guitar Build

It looks like you are off to a good start, Elektro. Strumable is good. It sounds like we have some similar ideals. No building tips here, but some ideas on tuning. I came to pedals, not because I wanted to play Nashville E9 or Swing C6 -- that's been done before and far better than I ever could -- b...

simple strips

A simple screw-type terminal strip mounted near the pickup and connected to the output jack (or control pots) would probably be easiest for most applications. http://rsk.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pRS1C-2265721w345.jpg The photo shows a two-position strip, but they are available in four, six...

Andy Volk's book is a great inspiration, too. HTH.
