Re: We Had A Fire - All Is Lost

Richard, I know Your house burned down...how could that be misunderstood?? I called it an accident, since it is accidental every time a house burns... I do however understand how devastating it can be both for body, mind and possessions to have something like this happen. I hope you forgive my unint...

Re: We Had A Fire - All Is Lost

Richard, So sorry to read about your accident. But thank goodness that Shirley and you weren't hurt. I do hope the insurance co comes thru for you 100%. I guess we both are accident prone. A week ago, a car ran a stop sign and I plowed into him. Thank god no injuries to speak of, and since I had no ...

Re: Best choice for homemade pickup?

I use Alnico 5 1/4" by 3/4" in my single coils for the pedal steel I wind to around 14.5K and it sounds pretty good.

Re: How do you loop the ends of Carter pull rods?

Will, I use 306 SS. I use an expandable die- the one with a small screw in it to let you expand the hole ever so gently. Without it, it is darn near impossible. I sand a VERY slight chamfer on the end of the rod. I have the rod horizontally in the vise, turned down very tight. Then with a work glove...

Re: Changer Finger Design

Will, re point # 2. Thanks for the roses it does indeed warm my heart to see you write this. However I believe you might be short changing your Curnoe and the alu fingers. Most every steel uses alu so.... My brass idea springs out from the theory of church bells and ship bells' beautiful sustain and...

Re: Changer Finger Design

Dave, that is a great workable solution. As to the throw..I had it figured out once upon a time but can't remember the figures. However, you will be surprised at how short a throw you really need ... for a raise it is hardly visible. For one of the most difficult lowers - string 6 g# to f# it takes ...
