Re: Have you ever cast your own parts
Yes, Sb, that's how it is likely done with the holes. But from what I have seen of alum. necks, the underside is all cast . You would make a wooden mold with the hollowed out part and everything.Study those guys' videos and see how they make a split casting with two boxes(flasks) with casting sand. ...

Re: Have you ever cast your own parts
shobud, You can also go on youtube and look up two people: "myfordboy" and "mrpete" or tubalcain as he calls himself. myfordboy is all about casting and mr pete is a retired shop teacher, a VERY knowledgeable man who instructs in not only casting but also machining. A huge wealth of information here...

Re: Well-deserved Kudos to Tom Bradshaw
I agree wholeheartedly! Tom is top notch. A few years ago something was wrong with my Dunlop volume pot which I had bought from Alberta. I emailed Tom for advice, thinking it was me who had soldered the connections wrong. Although Tom had not sold me this pot, he offered to send me a new one, which ...

Re: Here goes, First Lap steel build

This is evident before you even attempt to put the chisel to the wood. That figured maple is simply ...

Re: RogerDodger from BenRom
Here we have the cabinet. All birdseye maple. Will stain the front a light brown.
Also, thought I would try the "round-front" look this time....the roundover goes all the way end to end.

Re: RogerDodger from BenRom
Ross, I admit I don't know the huge benefit to this adjuster. From what I have read it is thought to be more of a Emmons PP type idea where the raise bar is in contact with just the screw in neutral position and thereby contributing to tone enhancement. I am not 100% convinced...But what's the hurt ...

Mark, A lot of painstaking work and love is going into that guitar. It will be a success for sure! Good luck with your already fine product!
