Re: Home built milling machine
HI Pat, Looks really cool! Where did you find the x,y table? What did you use for the z? did you start w/some salvage parts or all from scratch? Is there a lock mechanism for the z? a couple of thoughts on the router. I was told 35 years ago by a very clever fellow that you could route steel w/a reg...

Re: Measurements for fingers?
Hi Ross,
Is there a way you know of or have heard of to retro fit a regular drill press with a draw bar type assembly?
Thanks, Dave

Re: What "pushes" in a PP system?
What is confusing to me in the images here http://www.steelguitar.com/maps/changerPP.html# is that in the raise pull there is a spring and stop collar on the bottom pull rod towards the key head. in the lower diagram there is a spring and stop collar on the upper push rod towards the changer end. ar...

Re: need your opinion
Those guitar look really nice. What kind of changer mechanics are you using? I see also that you are using various types/styles of pups. How big a difference in tone, sustain and such are you experiencing? Which have proven to be your favorite if any? realizing of course that this is quite personal ...

Re: Affinity Strat converted to lap steel
Hi Albert, Check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBoLXY0fPQ4 James has been making his own lap steels for awhile and has many different styles. I don't know the story of this pink steel in this vid it looks like he put a square neck on it. James likes to do things on the cheap, he is S...

Re: Headless Tuner for P.S.G.
Thanks Ray, I was about to post a question, but your second drawing cleared up the pivot point. Interesting design. I am seriously considering a keyless head and all design/ideas are welcome. I had the thought of a string wedging action but not how to implement it, your design appears to be very eff...

Re: "The Beast" - And Other Good Pertinent Stuff
I agree, love reading Richards posts. In this knee jerk, sound byte, miss-direction/lie to your face world it is refreshing to see some people with the ability to us critical thinking and the application of the scientific method. why? when? how? show me. Design, make, test, publish to peers. Peers t...

Re: Split Tuning & Half Stops
Thanks for the explanation Georg, in a moment of lucidity it actually seems to make sense to me, but I reserve the right to be confused again later. Thanks again all,
Dave
