I don't care for a volume knob mounted on the steel, I'd rather use the pedal. However, I have had several steel that had a tone control, and I used it quite a bit on some of them. Hi Paul, Here is my opinion on the issue. On pedal steel , the tendency the last decade at least, has been to eliminate tone and volume controls. I agree with this because any kind of switch that the sound has to go through at the source is going to colour your final tone in some way. Anyway, you s...

Hi Bent... Yes you are right Allan has been great and very helpful and I hope he will stay with me and continue his surport.... No the timber I got was maple..( I will find out the name of the other stuff that looks like oak )but is not... the string spacing is 11/32 as it seems most popular..and 24...

Hi Again and thank you again for taking the time.. The brass rod is ordered...the copper foil is ordered..going Sunday to look at some turners and volume/tone at a local music outlet..then that leaves the frets and the pick up.. The scale length after a lot of deliberation I think Ill go for Errrrr ...

Yes Paul...it is the make, the're expensive but any other cheaper tuners should do the same job IMO. :) Pat C. Thank's Pat..we dont seem to have the choice you have over there, or I carnt find alot of suppliers..but trying to avoid import tax as I mentioned before on the slide..they charge our vat....
