Re: LF thoughts on this finger design please
Very cool. I'm seeing 18# music wire mentioned. Is that what you use? My wife works for a wire manufacturer so I may try to scrounge some.
Also, do you have any idea how much wire goes into each spring?
Thx

Re: LF thoughts on this finger design please
@Ron, are you still using those little brass inserts you turned for the ends of your springs, or have you moved on to something else? I saw a thread where you posted some pics. Looks like a fairly easy thing to do so was thinking of copying that idea of yours as well. (I think when this guitar is fi...

Re: LF thoughts on this finger design please
Update. I spent some time yesterday milling out a finger from aluminum as a prototype. I was almost done and f'd it up by not paying attention to what I was doing. I have to learn to think through every single milling step before making a cut. Anyway, marking it down to a learning experience and wil...

Re: Changer Housing Dimensions
Looking at the alumitone pickup linked above I see the height is 0.88". I read that people tend to set them 2 "quarters" thickness below the strings, or 2x0.069". If I go with 1 quarter's worth for maximum height, that would mean the bottom of pickup would be about 0.95" below the bottom of the stri...

Re: Changer Housing Dimensions
In re-reading my question I understand why you couldn't make sense of it, Ron. It has to be the worst worded question of all time.
I believe you answered it nevertheless.
I'll work up a model of the block and post it for comment.
Thanks the the response.
Dave

Changer Housing Dimensions
Now that I've settled on a changer design (for now, at least) I am turning my attention to the changer housing/block. I've been trying to find information on pickup dimensions so that I can size the opening for it properly. I haven't had much success, though. I found this document that indicates dim...

Re: LF thoughts on this finger design please
Hi Dave that is the only photo I could find as an example the ones I get are 6mm long and are used with washers Great shots. You can even see the PTFE disk in between the finger plates. I hadn't thought of the washer idea. I like that idea 'cause it means you don't have to buy the perfect length ri...
