Re: question
This is an interesting topic. I'd never thought of trying to cut pieces this way. If I was going to build something like that I'd try first to use an old car sissors (can't spell worth a damn) jack....which I have. Another option would be a 3/4" bolt/nut...or they sell 3/4" threaded rod at the hardw...

Pedal Stops....
I was just thinking about something. It's always nice to have a really positive stop when you push a pedal. On all the steels I've made I just use an adjustable bolt or something like that under the guitar as part of the pedal puller bracket. I was wondering if any of you folks ever tried an adjusta...

Re: method to attach strings!
I don't know what other folks use for the pins but I have always used pieces of bicycle spokes. All spokes are not the same diameter, so take a string with you and go to a bike shop and see which one fits the best. As far as the length, I usually put them in the same amount that's sticking out. Depe...

Re: Home built milling machine
Hey Pat.....I love it! Did you make the tables too? That's sort of where I've been stumped to try to make a mill for myself without spending hundreds of dollars. Anyway, congrats, it looks great!

Re: Steel Project #4
By heck Bent you sure can make nice parts with that fancy miller.
And Bill.....if you're reading this, can you point me to the rod bending jig you made. I looked for it on your posts but couldn't find anything.
Thanks for this,
Mac

Re: Polishing Aluminum
Pat....sounds like you've got the easiest method on the muscles! Where did you get the treated buffing wheel and the compound? Autosol, I seem to remember seeing that stuff at Canadian Tire, it's an old brand of cleaner I think.

Re: Polishing Aluminum
Hello again.... Just thought I'd let y'all know that I'm completely "out of business" for I guess the better part of the summer. Emptied my shop....all in boxes etc. in our daughter's barn. No repairing, no building, no selling.....I'm going nuts!! Probably will have our house on the market in the n...

Re: Polishing Aluminum
Hi Eldon.... I'm sure there will be lots of opinions on this subject. Here's what I do. I bought a bunch of sanding blocks from Lee Valley. They had a sale on and I got a whole bag of different sizes and grits for I think it was about $10.00 I use them wet. Just get a plastic dish or a small Tupperw...
