Re: pull/release problem
Burt... I know what you mean by passing through the bellcranks. That won't work on this guitar as the rods are fixed to the bellcranks as usual but there's not the opportunity to incorporate another pedal/lever to another one. The additional problem is that pedal 5 also drops the 6th string as well ...

pull/release problem
Hi folks! I haven't been on here for quite some time although I've been reading the posts pretty regularly. Boy, there are surely some beautiful instruments being made by folks on here in recent times. Here's my problem... I've been building a 10 string keyless double changer guitar. Well, it starte...

Re: Shop origanization need help
HI Storm......I've always cut the fingers out on the bandsaw, then finished them up with the little 1" Delta bandsander. Couldn't do anything without that sander. No I don't think I'll buy the Bladerunner. Looks too dopey for me. Only thing I can think of doing with it would be to cut slots in 1/4" ...

Re: Shop origanization need help
Hi....thanks for the info on the saw. Can you cut 1/4" aluminum plate fairly accurately with it? I actually found it on the Home Depot US site, it isn't on the Canadian one but apparently Sears sells it too. It's really just a jigsaw mounted upside down under a table, but has other good features lik...

Re: Shop origanization need help
Hi....Just wondered again if you could give me an idea what that "new" type bandsaw is that you got at Home Depot. I can't seem to find anything like that online.
Thanks,
Mac

Re: Shop origanization need help
Hi....Sounds like you've got all the gadgets you need to build guitars but trying to organize the shop is always a problem. I downsized my shop when we moved recently so it's a problem for me too. One thing I use all the time to hold the guitar when building/working on both the top and the bottom is...

Re: What sort of wood?
I still like Canadian sugar maple the best. Hard as anything, doesn't need filling before finishing and can be dyed any colour you like. I've built a few PSGs from butternut lumber. The grain is fantastic but is considerably softer than maple and requires using filler before finishing.

Re: cheap lapsteel pickups
If your looking to outfit an 8 string instrument and you can only find 6 string pickups just mount a piece of steel over the magnets the desired length for an 8 string span. I've done this several times, tell you what works the best is a piece of "key" steel (that they use to make keys for use with ...

Re: keyless guitar- any more ideas for lowering at this end?
Dave.... I've gone back to my original idea pretty much. I changed the shape of the lever arm, moved the pivot point, and made it smaller overall. I've also solved the problem of the scraping. Just bought some "castle nuts", think that's what they call them. Screw one tightly on the end of the adjus...

By heck your head's workin' good today! I'll have to think on this, maybe it's a clever solution after all.
