Re: Legs
Hi Russ. Man you got great legs!! (That's pretty scary to say eh) You start out with aluminum pipe right. What's the outside diameter.. is it 3/4" maybe. Then you turn the bottom an top pieces to fit inside the pipe. Is that stuff like 3/4" aluminum rod that you turn down to fit inside the pipe? Loo...

Re: Mac _ re prototype guitar Blanton type bell crank
Hi Eldon..... No, I've not noticed any bending of the 8/32 bolt, even when it's up at the top. This type of bellcrank seems to be the best thing I've made for quite awhile. Sure it looks kind of dopey, but it works great. I made a couple with the bottom end a slot so you could just slide them on and...

Re: C6 Photos
Hey Eldon, I like that tuner also. Just curious, are the bars that the strings attach to.... seems they slide along in a track or something. Are they fastened from popping up by something else than just the adjustment screw? It's a neat design for sure. Seems you can have a real lot of adjustment to...

Re: some parts
Gosh fellas......that string through the finger is a great idea. Isn't there some "commercial" guitar out there that uses that idea? Not that it matters too much. I think I'll try that when I make more fingers for my next steel. If nobody minds I'll put a blurb about it in my new book as well. Been ...

Re: New pickup
Very nice looking pickup so far. I can't really tell from the picture, do you have a bobbin in between or are you winding right over the magnets? I wouldn't grind too much on the magnets. Magnets don't like too much heat or banging or grinding on them, tends to mess up the orientation of the little ...

Re: Opposite-wound PUP
In a perfect world I suppose winding one coil CW and the other CCW on top of it would give zero output. I'm thinking of speakers pointing at each other and wired opposite polarity. Should be no sound but of course that doesn't happen but there will certainly be reduced output. I wish I could remembe...

Re: Opposite-wound PUP
Bent....I was trying to figure out awhile ago when you posted this. Why you got 8.5K. If the two coils were connected in series you'll get 17K.....doesn't matter if they're upside down, beside each other, magnets or no magnets etc. You must have hooked them up some other way. With only four wires th...

Re: PSG body
Hi Bay.... Didn't you send me an email a couple of days ago inquiring about my PSG book? Anyway.....3/4" wood is the norm. Most boards that are commonly available are 3/4". I've done other things though. The last guitar I built was 1/2" regular maple with 1/4" birdseye laminated to it. I had this 2+...

Re: Band Saw???
You're all right about these little bandsaws being the favourite tool in the shop. I bought a little Mastercraft one on sale at CTC a few years ago for $65.00. I've cut mostly all the parts for perhaps 10 steels with it and it's still going strong. The only blades I use (and can get) are Vermont Ame...
