Template or jig for spacing pickup pole piece holes

I've wound quite a few pickups....and I always have the same problem. I've been fooling around the whole afternoon trying to "invent" a jig or something to accurately space the holes for the pole pieces. Bent in particular must have got some scheme for doing this I'll bet. I've decided to try the al...

Re: mica cabinet finishing

Formica isn't for me either. Why would you do that. By the time you buy some cheap stuff to laminate it to and go through all the effort to finish(hide) the edges etc. Sure you can get some nice fake grained formica but I think it's crap and should never be on a steel guitar. In a similar vein thoug...

Re: Adjustable Legs - Mac

Hi Eldon.. The legs... Yes I use adjustable snow brushes or car wash brushes. I'm fairly fussy though when I go looking for them. Got to be 7/8" OD for the large pipe and 3/4" OD for the smaller adjustable end. The large pipe has to be at least 20" long, the small one doesn't matter too much as they...

Re: Pickup

Don't you think 17k is too high for a regular pickup. I usually wind mine to about 9-10k and have lots of output. I also use 1/8" lucite and spray paint it on the bottom side any colour I want to. I like the idea of perhaps using aluminum though for the top and bottom. One would think that that woul...

Re: rollers for keyhead changer...

Richard.... I didn't know you were working on a PS210 changer concept. As you might remember I had a working version of that type of changer last fall. It worked OK generally, but recently I got a couple of ideas in my head to hopefully correct the shortcomings that I had with the guitar. Haven't ha...

Happy Birthday Richard... Yup....I'm catching up. The best thing about it is that the relationship in age (fractionwise) between our kids and I is getting smaller every year.

Re: FOR MAC

Hi Russ,....ah yes the book. No, it's not done yet. And the excuses, which I seem to be better at than anything else! I had to finish a steel for a fellow down in the Maritimes. Then I was working on a set of five small bandsaw boxes for our kids as an extra Christmas gift. Then the computer where t...

Re: Got my mill running!!

Great stuff Bent. That's a whoppin' big machine. Maybe you should check with CPR or GM or Ford to see if they need anything built!!

Anyway, best of luck with your endeavours.

....and Merry Christmas to all your gang
