That is something in years to come you'll look back and be very glad you did it!

Re: grounded?

Sometimes using a hotter iron and get on and off quicker works better. Also, get some of the really thin rosin core solder. I use 0.032 stuff.

Re: Finished building

NICE! Are you going to have a pad next to the neck? I saw one the other day that a guy had a removable pad with Velcro on it.

Greg Cutshaw has a ton (literally) of free free free stuff on his website, for pedal and lap steel.

Re: Cabinet Drop

Cabinet drop is when the body of the guitar flexes under pressure applied to the pedals and detunes a string or strings. Weak body, stiff pedals, more cabinet drop. Strong cabinet, easy pedals. less cabinet drop.

Re: RogerDodger -BenRom006 finished!

Absolutely beautiful. I like the way you did the pad. I had seen a pedal steel that had a round socket for the bar storage, and something you might consider is in the space beside the keyhead, making some kind of tray for the bar and picks.

By the way, my birthday is in June....

Shows careful thought, planning, and craftsmanship. You are going to have an instrument others will want... probably at a name your price deal. Very, very nice work. Will look forward to seeing it totally finished.
