Re: Eliminate The Endplates - Build A Fine Piece of Cabinetry!!

Though it's woodwork doesn't cover the frame ends (end plates), you're pretty much describing the Anapeg by Noel Anstead of Australia. He uses very nice and rare woods (the story is he actually cuts the trees down) but doesn't go very much into decorative inlays and such. Awesome rigs! There's quite...

Re: I AM SURPRISED

Sorry Jimmy, I don't have an answer for you, but I do have a question if you don't mind.... It looks like those bell cranks might be adjustable for length. Is there a set screw or something on the little block that's mounted to the bell crank post to allow for setting the length? thanks in adavance,...

Re: some parts

finger radius (or diameter depending on how you're calling it out) size is a balancing act....too small and it will be more prone to string breakage...too large and you risk damping the string vibration. 1" diameter (.5" radius) is bigger than any I've measured. Is that what you used on your earlier...

Re: some parts

a local pal has a fairly new Jackson with the strings going through the fingers like that. Funny thing is some of the fingers are have a countersink where the string exits and some don't....the ones that don't just make the hard 90 degree bend...not sure why Jackson folk would do that unless its a m...

Re: Pedal Steel Guitar (Project # 3)

Yo Pat, Be very careful doing that kind of lathe type stuff on a drill press....in fact just don't do it. In a fight between your face (or other body part) and a drill chuck...the drill chuck is gonna win. Almost all drill press chucks are held on by a taper and stay put just fine with drills becaus...

Re: Milling machine - UPDATE!

congrats on the mill Bent, she's a beauty...having it just given to you is pretty special, but the real treat was having someone move it for you. I'm moved lots of these suckers in my time and have actually come to enjoy the challenge of doing so without forklifts, loaders and the like...but having ...

Re: Tuning Problem

Do yourself a favor and make friends with someone who has a lathe (metal type). Measure your drilled holes carefully and turn new bushings. You can get the material (delrin, nylon, bronze rod) from Mcmaster Carr. When you drill the hole for the cross rod, drill it undersize and use a reamer (also fr...

Re: Reducing hole diameters

There's a slight chance that you could use helicoils, but I think the two sizes are too close for any of your solution ideas to work. Epoxy might work just long enough to give you a false sense of confidence then would certainly fail after repeated pedal stomping. I would imagine that the same compa...

Re: Crazy project #1: variable-pitch pullrods for JI tuned PSG.

Hey Bent,

Great post...I don't think it was negative at all. There's nothing wrong at all with keeping perspective.

Nor is there anything wrong with a passion for detail and the challenge of chasing down the elusive.
