Re: rollers for keyhead changer...

I agree with Bent regarding the OD and the groove. There's lots of far smaller bearings available that could be used. That said, since the rotational movement is so miniscule, I'm not convinced there's much (if any) friction reducing advantage in using a ball bearing instead of the standard "plain be...

Re: "New" mill - new challenges

That's a very advanced part (and nicely done as well!) for someone who's been running a mill for an entire 2 weeks.

Great job Bent!

Re: Taper The Neck? - Or Not.

Yo Bent, I somehow missed your comments about cutting curves without CNC capability....yep, they're not so simple. I've got an 85 year old pal who's manual mill work is just plain amazing....I call him the human CNC...what he can do while tuning the x and y handles at the same time has always boggle...

Re: Taper The Neck? - Or Not.

Howdy Richard, let me clarify on the vert mill selection....there are actuality some very nice scaled down (size wise) vertical mills that are dinky and work very well. We've got a little tiny Clausing mill that's only about 3 feet tall, but has a knee that raises/lowers and a tilting head (the dril...

Re: Taper The Neck? - Or Not.

vertical milll hands down Richard...horizontals are cool (we have 4 here along with our 4 verticals), but they don't see nearly the use the verts do. Don't get swayed by the low price into buying a "drill/mill" table top kind of thing....if it doesn't have a movable knee and a rotatable head you don...

Re: Taper The Neck? - Or Not.

Richard; Yes these PS rigs are interesting...Fender made quite a large investment to just dump the project. This 112 is not mine, I'm just trying to get it up and running a good as possible in stock form...then may proceed with some mods to make it work better. This 112 was put together using parts ...

Re: Taper The Neck? - Or Not.

this is something I've been asking folks about as well...Check out the "ontrak" thread at SGF...Paul Redmond (brilliant guy) does not taper his necks, but picks what would be the approx. distance between strings in the picking area on a tapered setup and uses that spacing at the changer and at the n...
