Angle for leg sockets

Post by George Price »

Hi there guys.....I am new to this forum and build 15 lap steel guitars in the past. I am making the plunge towards the pedal steel and I will go with the welded frame. I can weld aluminum, so that is not the problem. However, I do need to know the angle for the legs.

They told me the front was 12 and the back 18.

Is that the right angle?

George, welcome to the forum! Your venture into pedal steel will be most rewarding, I guarantee you!
Some use different angles for front and back. I think most builders use the same angle. I believe that standard to be 10 degrees. This is what I used on the 3 steels that I built and it looks right.
Make sure you take lots of pictures so you can show us your progress.

Thanks for the reply Bent. Do you know of anyone that can provide me with the aluminum I will be needing for this project?

I heard there are several on-line dealers for this but somehow I cannot find one of them.
