Laminating A Steel Top _ARGHHHHH............

Post by Eldon »

I didn't clamp it well enough and parts stuck together and some parts didn't. I spread the glue put the 2 halfs together, set a bass cabinet and head on top and left. The edges warped up & now I have a piece of poorly glued baltic birch plywood headed for my kitchen stove. My fault - should have clamped it properly I have all the clamps and jigs but shortcuts don't always work.

Did you take a pic b4 throwing it in the stove? I would have liked to see how you actually fastened the pieces together. You sure things can't get salvaged?

I still have everything Bent. I'll post a pic tomorrow. Just as an afterthought I read the directions on the glue (Dural Carpenter's Glue 3500 PSI strength for furniture cabinets ect). Your suposed to mix it well before use - like I said my fault.

Pat, That's actually an acoustic steel I made a while back. And yes the legs are golf club handles.
I use it for practice & different tunings once and a while. It's all home made from scavenged parts.

Secondly a while back you asked me to post a photo re a big truck tire valve I used to cut my rollers from. I gathered a few pieces together but from what I could see it would serve no useful purpose so I apologise for not posting it.
