A question from Steve Black about steel guitar necks
A question from Steve Black about steel guitar necks
I have a steel guitar neck aluminum with threaded holes in bottom for mounting to body, how do I go about marking holes and drilling them from the body up through to threaded holes on bottom of neck?
Re: A question from Steve Black about steel guitar necks
Hi Steve, make up a paper template by placing a sheet of paper over the base of the neck and making a 'rubbing of the edges and hole positions on that then transfer them to the body.

Re: A question from Steve Black about steel guitar necks
I use temp screws the same thread size as the neck screws and cut the head off and round off the tip like a nail ,...then screw it in and let the tip stick out 1/16" to 1/8" then place and mesure the neck to make sure it is in the right place then give it a little tap on top of the neck on all place where there's screws to make pilot holes...then I drill the holes the size of the real screws.
