What knee lever is installed first and why?

I read your question a couple of ways: This is what I believe you are asking.... I like to setup working from the cross shafts located closest to the changer first. The main reason is if you start on the keyhead end you have to work around pull rods from previously installed pedals.

Thanks burnsville, I will start from changer end, I don't know how many cross shafts I need to have 4 knees and one verticle, any suggestions?

You will need at least 5 cross-shafts, one for each knee lever. You may need an additional shaft for the both the right and left knees working right depending on your design. The reason is to reverse the direction of pull for those levers and one simple way is to use an additional shaft.

Or you can just build a reverser before you even get to the cross-shaft.

Two styles, one is a linkage, the other a direct "push" if you will, I've seen a bearing on the bottom to make it easier to operate. We put a variation of the top one with a linkage setup. Bill
