Keyless tuning module

Post by mac639 »

I'm in the process of building 2 more pedal steels this winter. One will be a keyless, so I thought I'd just post a couple of pictures of the keyless tuning gadgetry. If anyone's interested I can post or email the dimensions etc.
Cheers,
Mac

Hey Mike....
You're right, the whole thing was not my invention really, just the way I put it together from a couple of other folks ideas as well. I've made other ones but to me this is the best I could come up with. The two main faults with others as I see it is that some others don't have enough adjustment to get the strings up to pitch without having to really yank on them before locking them down. Also the idea of trapping them under a screw is a bad idea. The way this works you just screw the sliding part in towards the "nut", then pass the new string through the little hole, pull it snug with your fingers, and trap it with the little top screw. And there's loads of travel to take any gauge string from limp up to pitch and beyond.
Cheers,
Mac

Hi Russ,
Were you going to send (or post) an email address that I could send the PDF file of the keyless tuner module to?
