Just attempting to give the man enough information such that he doesn't get stressed out about something inconsequential.
As I've stated before, If I were to build a wood-body guitar then I might seriously consider quarter-sawn bird's-eye maple. Why? It's "purdy".

Re: What sort of wood?
for many years I was the manager of a large import and domestic lumber company,
"quarter sawn " is nothing more than a way to get straight grain in the cut from the log, its main use is for things like hammer and axe handles , as far as "tone woods " there is officially no such thing, its just a term used by musicians

I still like Canadian sugar maple the best. Hard as anything, doesn't need filling before finishing and can be dyed any colour you like. I've built a few PSGs from butternut lumber. The grain is fantastic but is considerably softer than maple and requires using filler before finishing.
