Finishing is painful for me... I'm on the beginning of the process
Here's the overall look of the instrument:

Hello,
Some not so exciting news
I was not happy with the black stripes, the paint went under the masking tape, very little, but... black on white
So I sanded the top back to sealer. I'll be more aware about masking tape and will cover the white paint with a coat or two of varnish before painting the black stripes.
But before... I'll wait for the inlays, they left Vietnam 2 weeks ago so I'm just training my skills about varnishing with a gun on the cavities covers and bridge (I think they got about 10 coats and it begins to be correct with grit 400 dry sanding between each batch of 3 wet on wet varnish coats), I'll let the varnish set for 10 days before the wet sanding (1200-1500-200) and polishing process
Next big work will be the inlay process, so many small pieces...
Here are the MOP sets that will be sold by Andy Depaule:
Mine will be made of bone , and I wont get the National logo as I have my own... and 37 bone frets more
Cheers,
Xavier

Xavier, There is something so pleasing to know that we have a true artisan and craftsman from New Caledonia right here on the builders' forum. It just proves once more how necessary it was to get this forum going.
Thanks for showing us your handiwork.
Thanks to Larry for starting this forum!

Ah! your doing great Buddy! Just think about how much you learned and how you will do on your next build. I actually don't like the sound of my second build. Looks better than the first, but the sound is not what I am trying to accomplish. I stripped all the parts off of it and will start a third.

Today was a "fret" job day
I enlarged the fret slots with my dremel and the 3/64 stewmac router bit:
And glued the bone frets with black CA
We'll see the result tomorrow... before the "real" inlays

Hello,
The story continues...
I'll fill the gaps with another coat of black CA
Happy week end,
Xavier

I think the gaps look great just the way they are.
Xavier, you are so damn neat in everything you do. I got a thing or 2 to learn from you when it comes to neatness and sense for detail.
