new lap steel

Post by JW Adams »

here is my new project, i am looking to get the sound of the early fender, i am using Alder on this one, with Kent Armstrong pickup, the routing is done, now to the sanding and finishing, i am thinking about natural finish maybe Tru-Oil, altho might shoot some nitro, but i really like the look and feel of natural wood.
I am making this to set in a consol as i am not very comfortable with it on my lap. Thanks to Dennis Brooker for the fret board, the action is so low with the telecaster bridge this burch fretboard under lexan is just right. i will keep posted as i get along with it.

Hi JW,

My name is Ron, and I'm from New York, and this is my first post. I'm in the process of planing my first lap steel, and presently building my first electric guitar. I'm happy to have found this forum.

The guitar you're building looks great. I particularly like the peghead design.
Is the peghead on an angle, or is it flush with the neck and body?

I'll look forward to seeing your guitar take shape.

Ron
