lap steel

here is my first lap steel, i didn't want to get a lot of money involved untill i got my feet wet, i had some oak laying around the shop and some guitar pickups and pots ,so i order me some tuners, strings, and thru this together, now i am hooked and am on my second.

I'd say that's pretty sweet for your first effort!

Hoping my first turns out that well!

the bridge and nut are 3/8 brass rod, the turners are from stewart-mcdonald, the pickup and pot are from a 1961 Fender musicmaker guitar

started #2 not finished #1 yet. Couple of old church pews laying around had to cut them up.
seat is bottom of guitar and back of bench is top "oak" .don't know what bottom is, will try pics having a little trouble getting them to smaller size

plugged her in sounds pretty good but has a little hum have to read up on wiring

Hey now, I like the look of that!!!
Only nuts eat squirrels.
Keep yer tools sharp! That way you can use more of your strength guiding them AWAY from your body rather than forcing the cut!!!

Mr Grant, I am working on that problem as we speak. IF I find out how, you guys here will be the first to know! It's a big, nagging problem for sure!
