Thank You. I used MinWax polycrylic, Semi-Gloss I believe. I used about 6 or 7 coats with a light sanding between each coat. Most of my projects are done during the winter, in my basement and the Polycrylic is very low odor, and keeps me on good terms with my wife. Thanks again.

To be honest the reason I chose a non-gloss finish was I feel it is more forgiving. I built a previous lapsteel and used Minwax Polycrylic Hi-Gloss and it takes a lot of work to get it right. I used 14 coats on that one with light sanding between coats, and I used 600 grit between the last four and still every little defect showed up on it. I can really appreciate the beautiful finishes on steels that I've seen on here, and how much it must take to get them looking as nice as they do. I also don't have a sprayer so I use brushes for my finishes.
