Resophonic Sound Chamber

Post by rtp_burnsville »

Would anyone have a drawing of a resophonic chamber which holds the spun metal cone? Is there any magic about this or is it just a well supported wooden circle with some vents? I guess I could tear apart my dobro but really would prefer not to do so at this time. I have the patent for the Franklin Ped-A-Bro but have not found much else.

Thanks,
Robert

If you are thinking of a spider bridge (Dobro) type reso, the cone traditionally sits on a rim called a soundwell. Some more modern designs use a post and baffle system. Here are some soundwells:

Some soundwells have few holes than those pictured. Others have diamond shapes. My Gold Tone has one double, large oval, hole at the neck and the rest are round. Photo attached.

I'm not quite sure what you are looking for so HTH.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
