Changer fingers?

Post by gamac »

Any chance of finding someone who'd sell some homemade fingers that could be used to make a basic changer. Needing a finger that
could take an axle hole on one end and a small hole for a rod or cable on the other. Just to do raises, no lowering.

They would be shaped more or less like the top part of an exclamation mark. Probably about 3 inches in length.

If they had a 1/2" 5/8" hole for an axle could get by with four or five of these since they could be combined with some other short fingers I already have.
If they are different I guess 10 would be needed.

Have about everything else to build a sort of lap steel/pedal steel idea, but don't have any way to make metal parts.

Would be willing to pay for these if I can find some.

Thanks.

The finger on the right side is about what it would look like.......

download/file.php?id=1424

download/file.php?id=1424

Length about 3 to 3 1/2" and about standard width used in a psg. Might use spacers to get a little more string spacing than a normal 10 string psg.

Haven't seen what you are using on your 6 string psg's, but thats probably about what's needed. Except I'm using 10 strings.

FRIEND GAMAC,
WOULD THIS DO ? NOT CLEAR ON AXLE DIAM. - IS IT 1/2
OR 5/8 INCH? THOUGHT 2 PULL HOLES WOULD OFFER SOME ADJUSTMENT OF LEVERAGE.1/4 INCH THICK X 3/4 OR 1 INCH
WIDE STOCK WOULD BE USED.POLISHED ON TOP SECTION.

I tried something similar to that, but ended up using two cables to a pedal where there were two pulls involved.
Doing that seemed to lessen the force needed to raise the strings.

A number of stock steel guitar pedals have two holes for pedal rod connectors so this was easy to
do. The cables were attached to right and left sides of the pedal.

Still don't have an ideal design for a pedalbox. Have tried wood and pvc pipe, but
haven't found anything that can't be improved upon yet.

"....JUST FOR THE RECORD,MY FINGERS ARE ACTUALLY

Any change of seeing a diagram of how you set this up. It's not too hard to
achieve a string raise, but a lot harder to install something that will
handle a lower as well.
