Paul, I have no personal experience with the Stage One. However, there is a pro steel player in Nashville who swears by this guitar - for its tone, light weight and portability. The man's name is Michael Douchette. He is former steel man with Tammy Wynette. He uses it for his recording guitar. So I would venture to say that if it is good enough for Mike it should be good enough for the rest of us. Stage One is the brain child of Bruce Zumsteg, builder of the famous Zumsteel. Doug Earnest has taken over building them now.

Edited: Paul, found this on Youtube. See and hear for yourself... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZ5T1y3O ... ture=share
