Steel guitar legs

I know, we are a bunch of do-it-yourselfers that have the driving need to make every part for our steel guitars all by ourselves. Right down to strings and tuners if we possibly could.
This post is about legs and my suggestions as to what to do. Up to now I have been buying used legs. After 3 times of going used, I have two words for this: NEVER AGAIN. There always seems to be a discrepancy between the buyer's and the seller's opinion of what constitutes a "nice leg, no scratches and tight-fitting couplings".
Kudos to all of you who are able to make a working, lasting leg out of other parts than the standard parts found in the telescopic legs of today.
Until I get a line on a supplier for regular parts, I will continue to buy my legs ready made.
The average price seems to be around $40 per leg. Not outa this world, considering the hassle saved by not having to go to Home Depot scrounging parts that "just might work"
Here is a steel builder who will make legs to your specs

One here in Canada is Wayne Link of Linkon Pedal steel in Winnipeg
http://www.mts.net/~linkon/ His prices might seem high but consider some savings in exchange rate, shipping and no customs&duty for Canadian customers
Fulawka has them also http://www.ambrec.com/fulawka/accessories.html Call ahead and check for possibly updated prices.
Just my 2 cents on that subject
