Re: Keyheads
Let me let you in on a trade secret on how to line up a blind hole: Drill a blind hole in the headstock and tap it out to whatever thread you are using. Screw a socket setscrew (in the uk they are called grub screws) upside down into the blind hole, so that about 1/32" of the pointed end of the sets...

Re: question
Bent, Both the punch and the die would have to be made out of toolsteel and then hardened. I have drawn the die as a circular insert, as that is the industry norm. The dies fit in a standard bolster (see photo) to allow interchangeability of dies with different apertures (they could be slots, rounds...

Re: question
Bent, I don't know the shape of the components of your changer fingers, but they could probably be made on a fly-press, with a simple notching tool, in several operations. You would need to make the tooling and all the stops for the different setups yourself, to keep the costs down, but once it's ma...

Re: Changer finger adjustment advise please
If you move the middle hole up 1/8", to 5/8" from the top hole and 1 3/8" from the bottom hole, it should be easier to operate, albeit with more movement of the legs required

Re: Pedal Stops....
I put pedal stops under the pedals on my first few builds, but it was difficult getting them substantial enough to do the job.
The conventional siting of pedal stops is more than adequate, and on a well-built steel should not contribute to cabinet drop

Re: Changer Layout
It might be a good idea to extend the bottom segment, to allow for a much longer lower return spring.
The longer the spring, the lighter the progressive action (on the knee lever), especially if it's doing a full-tone lower.

Re: Length of Pedals
My Emmons pedals are 5 inches long (from the centre of the pivot point to the end of the pedal) The locating pin for the pedal rod is 2 inches from the pivot point centre. If you have the room, put 2 or 3 rod connecting holes in the pedal (either side of 2 inches), this gives you plenty of scope whe...
