Re: Keyless tuning module
No,no,no.....no worries. The hole that's threaded for the 8-32 screw crosses the hole that the string goes through just a little. (just enough so I could complete the threading of the hole) I just round the end of the 8-32 screw a bit to take off any sharp edges. Screw it down tight against the stri...

Re: Keyless tuning module
Hey Mike..... No, the string doesn't get wrapped around the screw at all. Just passes through the hole, pulled snug, and the screw is tightened down on it. The first one I made did have a bit of a problem, I made the pass through hole a bit too big and had a problem tightening the smaller strings li...

Re: First pickup
I was just rereading all these posts about pickup winding. I've been making humbuckers recently but am going to wind a single coil for the guitar I'm building right now. I'll continue to use a maple core form that the magnets go through drilled holes in. What I was wondering was how deep or wide is ...

More pull/release questions
As most of you know, I've built quite a few pedal steels over the years.....I'm on my 19th right now. The normal keyed ones I usually build with the double changer design. The one I'm working on right now is a keyless with just a regular one piece finger (pull/release). This simple changer works gre...

Re: Pictures
Hey Paul.....not a problem. This is a guitar I made for myself a couple of years ago. Use it all the time. It's been everything, E9th, C6th, E6/9 and various other tunings and has been rerodded I don't know how many times. After all that, I'm going to stick with this.. (high to low) F#, G#, E, B, G#...

Re: Polished Aluminum, 7 String Pedal Steel Guitar build
Hi Wayne.... pretty impressive work. Any chance of posting a picture or diagram of your changer and how it works?
Cheers,
Mac

Re: Cross shafts questions
Just curious......have you found a "special" source of stainless hex material for the shafts? I still use round shafts, but if I was going to change I'd go for square shafts. It'll be easier to put bellcranks on....just slide them on a square shaft, can't do that on a hex shaft. Anyway 3/8" is plent...

Standard E9th setup....and changes
I don't want to start some great discussion on this, but you folks that have built pedal steels to sell, I'd just like some comments. The vast majority of new guitars out there are either 3 or 4 floors and 4 or 5 knees assuming they are E9th instruments. Of course I read on the Forum often that many...

Re: Another Changer Idea
Hi Joe, The changer I'm talking about is pretty similar to the ShoBud fingertip design. No, it's not limited to 1 raise and 1 lower. That's all I put on in my drawing. I'm still not sure if I should make the finger a little shorter and the "lever" a little longer, and what effect it would have on th...
