Re: Avatar photos?

Bent, Thank you for the shrink link. I still had to numb a few brain cells in Photoshop before what I handed shrinkpictures came through small enough and clear enough to use here, but it worked. Thank you. And Georg, when you look as good as I do, you kind of owe it to everyone to share that with ev...

Avatar photos?

Sometimes Photoshop, over the silliest things, tromps all over my brain cells, and squashes them like grapes. What is the best resolution, size, and number of pixels per inch to save a photo at to be used as an Avatar photo on this forum. It seems that, if I reduce all these variables small enough t...

Re: Bridges?

I am so far using Ryan Rukavina's bridges, and they are wonderful. My favorites are three, matched, nickel plated, brass, wrap around bridges Ryan made for me that are going on a triple neck project. I am also looking into designs I could do on my own. Until I can (probably never) spring for some so...

Re: McGregor Steels

Scott,
I just sent off an email to Paul Redmond, asking about the feasibility of making keyless tuners with 3/8" string spacing. Who knows? Maybe one day I will wind up putting all these recycled MSA keyheads back on the market.
Thanks again.

Re: McGregor Steels

Scott, Thank you for the links. I'm studying the router set. How wide a swath does that bit cut? I understand routing for installing bindings n the edge of a guitar body, but, say I want to inlay a 1/2" strip of veneer in the edge of a 1-1/2" board 1/2" from the top. If the board has straight sides,...

Re: McGregor Steels

George, your continued encouragement down the ornate path is bound to affect me sooner or later. And, yes, this neck design especially is much influenced by early console steels such as Sho-Bud, as well as your own gorgeous, more recent instruments. I am tempted to put some sort of inlay on the side...

Re: McGregor Steels

Well, I am overwhelmed by your exuberance of design. I have been thinking of a table-like design, with skirts and all. I also used to do some pictorial intarsia inlay many years ago, and am not opposed to intricate details. However, on this, my first build, I'm pretty much sticking with the big-chun...

Re: McGregor Steels

I apologize for getting sidetracked for a few days. These are hectic times. Okay. The slab of African Mahogany is 1-3/4" thick at present. I originally bought several boards, and had them milled to this thickness because I had fantasies of building Les Paul Jr style guitars. Never did, but I've hung...
