Re: Flute Taps

It's a "gun tap", sometime they act like they're not cutting they thread so easy. Just as with all taps, and cutting tools, keep it well lubed with the proper cutting fluid..Bill

Re: Meet Flipper

Finally found them from the best I remember, the spring is under the short pull.
The added pieces on the plate is a repair that I made when both studs stripped out. No fault of the guitar, it was a dumb thing on my part...Bill

Re: Meet Flipper

Paul, From what I'm seeing in your drawing, you would tune the neutral/pedal,levers in off position, then tune the raise, lower positions..pedal/levers on position, also you need a spring on the short pull to be able to tune without a problem. Choosing a spring with the proper tension is sort of a ch...

Re: Meet Flipper

Mac,
Looks like the 3 pedal racks have oval shaped holes, don't think it's needed anyway, the MSA that I had with the "F" brackets never gave a problem and they were all round.

Re: Meet Flipper

Paul,
The pedal pull plates (crossbars) are similar to the ZB, and first generation MSA, you will need a spring under the short pull when you have 2, or more pulls on a pedal. This gives a better setup for tuning. Gotta love the looks of the old wood cabinets.

Re: keyless

Bent, Sounds like you have it covered, the insert system is good but, as always DIY/free is good also. If your cutter has even number of inserts, use two @ 180deg, and tilt so the trailing insert is cutting to look like hair(or, just tilt with one insert). Look at the video, and you will see what I'...

Re: keyless

Bent, Plunge/hog milling, as you describe in your other post is the way to go. I would suggest getting a set of bed clamps, Harbor has them reasonable. Also you can make a 30 deg fly cutter that (with a properly ground tool) works really good on wide flat surfaces. On aluminum, if you set the flycut...
