Re: Guitar Body Material - Georg - Richard ??
Slightly away from the basic point of the thread possibly but here is an almost completely aluminum lap steel from an extrusion. I found it a while back while deciding if I would try a PU like this guy used in a lap steel I was building. Just for interest, I know it doesn't really answer any of your...

Re: Interchangeable pickup
Hi Bent,
I have a butchered Strat that I use for experiments with pickups. I use a basic RCA type inline pair that I get from Radio Shack in bags of (I think) ten... They work just fine. Just be sure you get a bag of males and a bag of females!!!
Regards, Allan.....

Re: Celebrating My 25th Birthday - for the third time.
Darn! I missed the actual day but all the very best anyhow... I recently had the 42nd anniversary of my 22nd birthday. (it was a good year and that's why it is the one featured - it's the year I finally took the plunge into professional music for a while - then I went and got married and had to go b...

Re: ALLAN - Need Some Info
Richard, I do all of my drawings in AutoSketch. Now, I am using version 2 which is many years old and is actually a 16bit windows prog. The next stage is to produce the animations from those drawings and that I do in Jasc Animation Shop. Jasc was bought out some time back by Corel who proceeded to b...

Re: Taper The Neck? - Or Not.
Hi Richard, OK, you asked for it! I will try to make this as clear as I can. Firstly, I am only using three strings in the example. Thus, when I say, reference the 'taper version', 'XY' and 'XZ' chords, I am aware that a chord requires three notes to qualify as such. This, and other aspects, are for...

Re: Taper The Neck? - Or Not.
It's a matter of opinion generally I think but I do see how a 12 string instrument would possibly lead to a differing opinion. This has come up before in the lap steel section of the forum but without that extra consideration being thrown into the mix. LINK Another thing worth knowing (though it may...

It's not a steel but check it out.
This website is from a guy in Germany. My brother sent me the link and I am still cleaning the drool off my chin and keyboard. Check out the quality of the workmanship on these instruments.

Re: Changer axle
It will bend exactly as it does in the example - it will just be more difficult to detect by eye. The drawing shows the same situation with only the length of the rod changing. Note that 'X'='X' and 'Y' illustrates how the situation LOOKS worse at a greater distance from the support. The effective b...

Nah, sharp memory if anything. I have made every possible mistake in the book so I only have to remember them.....
