Re: changer stops

I'm sure they do. But, apart from the PSGs I already have and will play and maintain, I won't have, or build, one with changer as part of the bridge. So apart from studying how these various variants work I won't go further into them.

Re: changer stops

Got it. It's a variant I haven't paid any attention to. Good thing I never will have to build and/or install such changers.

Re: changer stops

Wayne, it still sounds strange to me that you're looking for where to put a stop-plate for raise fingers ... what type of changer is it? Some form of broken finger? All (more or less) normal all-pull changers have only one stop-plate for both the raise and lower fingers, formed by the one you refer ...

Re: changer stops

Pardon me if I misunderstood you, but do you mean PSG changers with split-tuning screws - most new ones, vs those without - older ones..? Those screws are there to allow for a well-tuned split between a raise and a lower on same string. They should not affect neutral. If you mean something else, des...

Re: Body cracks - prevention

Richard, as you know I personally don't give much for "the way that it's done" arguments - especially when problems show up, but since the problem discussed in this thread isn't my problem - none of my PSGs have exposed wood and I won't use any wood in my own build - all I have to say is that if tho...

Re: Body cracks - prevention

First I'd like to mention that "alternatives" like plywood or pakkawood will also tend to crack when contracting as they dry out, if "held" by screws near the corners of wide, solid, metal-pieces like some changers. My Dekley is proof of that, as the top-plate has cracked down the middle because its...

Re: string space

Georg - You inadvertantly brought up a subject which should be resolved by the powers that be. I refer to the two systems of measurement that are currently being used and which conflict with each other. My background allows me to easily switch between and convert between the two. Most do not have t...

I like the Emmons sound too, but not the instrument. So, I've got no choice but to change everything.
