Ain't nuthin' like a beautiful piece of quilted maple - in the hands of a master craftsman, that is.
Ya gonna really play it or just look at it?
Yer somethin' else, Dave.

Re: Shop origanization need help
I DO NOT have an elegant shop! My shed is but 12' wide X 16' long. But it works, after a fashion. Keeping things simple, in one corner I have a stack of shelves which "house" my sliding compound miter saw, circular saw, drill motors, router, biscuit cutter, sawzall, etc. Underneath there is room for...

Re: Using Veneer wood to finish question
Gonna get just a little picky, here. My complaint with veneer coverings is that the seam where two pieces meet at a corner will always show. A neat way around that is to use a strip of wood that is the same specie as the veneer and insert it ala a banding and purfling technique. Needs some careful s...

Have we both missed something? Janne states that "rise OK but when lowering it return sharp". Does he mean that he executes a "raise" and that it doesn't return true but stops just short - returning "sharp"?

Re: Return compensators
Bent - You're probably right, in hindsight, on the return spring thing. However, I can't imagine a "hitch-in-the-gitalong" on the finger. For starters, I'm absolutely certain that your fingers are a near-perfect circle. (As near perfect as the TOS will allow) Secondly, and in viewing your photos, th...

Re: Return compensators
You may - or may not - have stated your problem accurately. Why does this effect occur only on the 4th string and on "several" instruments? If a compensator is required for all instances then it points to a much more basic problem. Bent has posted his procedure for adjusting the lower return springs...

Re: We Had A Fire - All Is Lost
Bent, my friend - As I'm fond of telling Shirley - don't sweat the little stuff! A misunderstanding of words is a common occurance and nuthin' to really get excited about. We'll be buddies through whatever is thrown at us. I'm mindful of the fact that I've met such as you on this forum who will prov...
