Re: Changing nut
I also took a look at the bridge situation, if you had to, you could by a new bridge from StewMac without string groves and refile the groves. But I think a re-arraigning of the parts in the bridge will do what you want. And, you could try the extender nut. The one on StewMac looks like all groves a...

Re: Changing nut
Very possible to do what you suggested. You can cut the string groves with a set of acetylene torch tip cleaners. If you want to get fancy, StewMac sells nut slotting files. You may have to reverse the saddles on the bridge also, depending on how it is made, but that should be removing some screws a...

Re: Libre Office
I haven't gotten into Linux as far as I would like to. I use Puppy for ham radio stuff (on a bootable USB drive), and checked out Ubuntu. Got any recommendations for a Linux variant to replace Win XP?

Refinishing pedal steel
OK, I have went and done it, I bought a Marlen D-10 Pedal Steel, 1979 vintage. The wood has some scratches and grungy looking places. I've been told it is done in "nitrocellulose lacquer". Looking at the pics below, most of the bad places appear to be in the clear layers of the finish. What would be...

Marlen Pedal Pull bushings
I saw this question had been posted before, but no answer. I need some of the above bushings. They are 1/4" OD, 1/8" ID (or slightly larger, the crooked end on the pedal rods is 1/8"), and the have a small shoulder on one side, and snap into the hole. Any ideas? I'll take 8 (at least) or more if I n...
