Thanks Ron, I appreciate the information. I do have other 500 pots but they are min-pots and I already have the holes drilled for the ones I mentioned. I will give it a try and see what happens. Thanks again.

Help with pots for my lap steel build
Hi All, As mentioned a few weeks back in the "Finishing " section, I am finally getting back to finishing the 8 string lap steel I started 8 or 10 years ago. I have it finished except for the wiring. Here is the problem. I have two pots. One a 250 and the other a 500. They are CTS and the numbers on...

Re: Need advice about using a water based finish.
Hi All, Well I went and bought a couple aerosol cans of Deft lacquer instead of the water based stuff. Bought a good respirator and decided to give the lacquer a try. No sealer on top of the dyed ash. Just got done with the 5th coat and it is looking surprisingly nice. I got a few runs. By what I've...

Need advice about using a water based finish.
Hi All, I am finally getting around to finishing up a lap steel that I started about eight years ago. It is made from White Ash that was harvested from a tree that we cut and milled about 13 years ago. I have been researching different finishes and prefer water based. I have built three previously, ...

Re: LF thoughts on this finger design please
Yes your mill is the same but without the DRO. I added the power feed too. So far a pretty good mill but I think it has plastic gears. I crashed it once and was getting a tic, tic ticking, sound from my gear head. The gears weren't stripped but looking through the side flip up cover I saw that they ...

Re: LF thoughts on this finger design please
I for one am very interested. Keep it coming. I at one time envisioned my self building a pedal steel, after 3 lap steels and a 4th in the pipeline, I can't seem to get motivated to finish the lap steel much less build a pedal steel  . Maybe some day though. Hopefully I still have a few years ...

Hi Ron,
I still visit at least every other day. Not a lot of activity but I occasionally browse through past postings to do research. Wishing you and all the SGB forum members Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year.

Very nice !! I don't think I have what it takes to work to that level of dedication.
