I believe the difference would be negligible but a pedal rod pulling up on the center of the pedal would distribute more of the forces along the entire center line of the axis. I saw that too. It makes me quite happy to see that. You see I have some of those mud wrestlers in my back yard too. (barn yard that is). Not only do we like steel guitars but mud wrestlers too.
