Re: Sheffield SD10
Not to diminish in any way this beautiful workmanship, but this type of inlay is relatively easy to execute. I've done it on six-string guitars, ala' Martin D-45. The easiest way is to use a teflon filler strip where you want the shell inlay. Glue up your black & white stripes using plastic banding,...

Re: changer
David, I modified my Miller 3+1 by addiing three KLs. Using Burt's oft-posted diagrams, I managed to get Es on 4 & 8 to raise and lower to F and D#. I later added a fourth hole in the changer fingers, but that had nothing to do with the copedent. I raised the deck of the guitar, which caused some in...

Re: Do we need a roller-style nut?
I don't think I properly described my proposition. With the strings clamped down, the clamping point would replace the nut, and there would be no sliding (altho some Floyd Rose designs use a clamp behind the nut, for reasons I don't fathom). Georg, I rarely slide my bar over the nut to play open str...

Re: Not built, but rebuilt...
By the way, as to playing, this guitar and I are debuting in Woodstock, IL in a production of Always, Patsy Cline . I do a lot of theatre pit jobs, but this'll be my first appearance on PSG, apart from playing my one-song repertoire of Teach Your Children last fall for our church Sunday School kicko...

Do we need a roller-style nut?
Everyone uses a roller nut to minimize friction and presumably minimize string hysteresis when the pulls are executed. However, ultimately, the string terminates at a fixed point, that being the tuner shaft. Along the way, we include that part of the string behind the nut in the pull, which presumab...

Re: Not built, but rebuilt...
Thanks for the suggestion. Actually, I did just that about two weeks ago!

Re: Not built, but rebuilt...
Thanks, Paul. Can't say it sounded better, but yeah, it adds a bit of confidence in playing. I have a way to go before I can say I actually "play" the PSG. Attaching some under pix by request. The brass cross-shafts are the ones I added (brass was all I could find quickly for 5/16" rod). I cut some ...

Re: Not built, but rebuilt...
Thanks for your interest, Bent. I'll get some pix underneath and post them soon. From any angle, it pales in comparison to your recent blue-beauty.
