what about using the 3 way switch from a Telescaster and wire it like a Fender Esquire,( position #1 volume only, position #2 volume and standard tone, position #3 volume and fixed treble roll off, google Fender Esquire for wiring diagram

something to think about on string thru, some of the Telecaster builders are using the (Taipantone brass string ferral bar) claim a lot more sustain

the grain in Alder is real tight, it is a easy wood to work with, most of your Fender Guitars that are painted are Alder, i am having some laser art work done on this lap steel and alder is the perfect wood for that. i had some 8/4 Alder superior grade, so i decided to try a lap with the Alumitone P90, i hear the quality is great so here i go, got the body finished and ready to machine .

i have built a few lap steel guitars using high output humbucker pickups, i have noticed using these pickups instead of the usual steel pickup, that the sound is a lot differant, i have a Nasville 112 steel Amp and a cheap fender frontman i have noticed the high output humbucker sounds a lot better ...

excellant layout for fretboard scales, i have made templets for steel guitar scales that i use, it was easer for me to layout the scale in MM, i have a steel rule in MM and i tape it to a piece of lexan, lay out the scale then drill a small hole so i can center punch the scale on wood or whatever us...

My thinking on scale for lap steel, is 6 string, 22 1/2, 8 string on up , 24, i make the body on my steel so i can use different scales , then i can make the keyhead for either 6 string or 8,10,12, i make the body a little longer than most and straight, this is so i can bolt two together for a doubl...

The bridge on this steel is not grounded, this was my first and with used parts , this is a single coil pickup, but it has no more buzz than my fender telecaster, i have changed to a aluminum bridge on my other steels, and they all are grounded, no noise at all but i use hot humbuckers and Alumitone...
