Re: Changer Finger Design
Richard, in your mind, should we then contribute the improved sustain some players claim they get by using a bigger/heavier (1" or even a 1 1/4") bar, only to the increased weight compared to that of a regular 7/8" bar? To me this indicates that those players do not push the bar down very hard when ...

Re: Where / how do you attach the lower-return stop plate?
Richard, about the Dekley ... later models than yours -- "Slimline" which I have 2 of --- are actually not quite so sturdy in the changer area, although plenty rigid enough and better than most other PSGs. My Dekleys are gonna stay the way they are (one is already modified), as what I am aiming at i...

Re: Where / how do you attach the lower-return stop plate?
Bent, thanks for that piece of information. So the stop plate is part of or attached to the end plate on the PSGs you build. From what I have seen that's how it is done on most PSGs -- also on my MSA and GFI -- which makes perfect sense in production. Not so on my Dekleys originally, where they are ...

Re: Where / how do you attach the lower-return stop plate?
Bent, tunable splits is not what I have in mind -- I use rods for splits anyway. Rather I want variable/playable/tunable neutral for each string, which CAN be used to tune out body-drop but which I mainly will use to microtune individual strings for JI-tuning across all chords and changes. As both t...

Where / how do you attach the lower-return stop plate?
Changer scissors stop at the "stop plate" for neutral, and since all my PSGs have that stop plate attached to different parts of the body / end plate construction and behave differently when it comes to detuning tendency, I'd like some input on where, and how, it is best to attach the stop plate for...

Re: Antonation on steel guitar
The old Fender PS210 has bridges at both ends separate from the tuning and changer mechanisms, and I am sure those bridges could have been replaced with adjustable ones if the builder had found a need for it. I mention both bridges because - IMO - both regular guitars and PSGs will intonate better i...

Re: Antonation on steel guitar
As Richard wrote; no intonation problems on a PSG. I'd like to add that that's only true when one INTONATES with the bar, which means the bar is only held more or less dead straight across the strings around the first 5-6 fretmarks counted from the nut. Further up towards the bridge/changer the bar ...

Re: Return compensators
What's also confusing is that I've never experienced this phenomenon on either the GFI or on the Dekley. Why on some instruments and not on another? Somebody please educate me just in case I run into this on my second refurb of the Dekley. Richard, My GFI Ultra show hysteresis problems - when bough...

Re: Weight saving
Don't think much weight can be saved by introducing alternative materials on otherwise traditionally built steels. Too many design elements for the "strings on body" concept are fixed in form/shape/materials already. Of course, for my own "strings on neck" concept nothing but the neck itself is some...
