Re: Accompaniment Software

The one I use is something called One Man Band Originals. Good price and good value, they also have one that you can play live but I haven't been able to get te demo to work to my satisfaction.

Greetings One and All

I've been out of the picture although I lurk once and a while. Haven't touched my steel for 2 months. Probably the biggest negative was the setup/tuning time I carry the sound equipment for our non-commercial 6 piece group and I really didn't need one more thing. It was however an absolute treat to ...

Re: String bending parts

Doug, You mention something about the lack of machining skills. Please don't let that stop you, judging by your photo there you'd be able to do it. I've made 3 changers using a combination of hacksaw, radial arm saw with a drill press vice, drill press, combination belt/disc sander and a sanding dis...

Re: A few more pics of my new 8 string C6

Thanks for posting the pics Burt. I see what you mean and agree with you. What may be a bit of a saving grace is that rather than drilling the hole for the string at right angles Drilled it at a bit of an angle. Then where it exits the finger I filed/dremmel tooled a channel so as to form a gentle b...

Re: A few more pics of my new 8 string C6

I understand what you're saying Burt. The photos don't show it well but I have a changer at either end. The string goes around the top of the finger in both cases. I've been playing it for about 1/2 hour each day for a few monts now with no string breakage.

Re: A few more pics of my new 8 string C6

If I understand what you,re asking Bill, my pedal stops are the floor that the guitar sits on. Real simple that way, haven't had any issues with it yet. Right side fingers stop against end plate, left hand ones on tuning screws. I'll post another pic later, not at my cmputer right now.

Re: roller nut

Bay, On my first build I bought 2 large truck tire valve bodies. They are made of brass(??) and easy to work with and have a hole in the middle for self centering. I chucked it in my drillpress and very gingerly (drill presses aren't made to be pushed on sideways too much) with a point file ground t...

Re: Elektro Pedal Steel Guitar Build

Boy do I ever like what I see there. I originally toyed with the idea of using pedals to get the chords as you describe in your first post, I did in the end go with a standard C6 copedant with 6 pedals. Now that I have 2 guitars I can fool around with the other one as much as I like. You'll like the...

Re: Pedal Stops....

This one's probably going to be right off the wall folks. My current build (more pics to come) has pedal stops but they didn't work very well - a bit more engineering required there. My solution was to use the floor as my pedal stop. It works great - as long as the flooring is short nap carpet or so...
